I glared at my brother until he removed his feet from my pillow.

“What’s up with you?” Hugo complained, reluctantly complying with my unspoken demand. “You’re pacing up and down like a caged animal.”

“I’m not,” I denied, my footprints in the dirt saying otherwise, but I hated admitting that he knew me well enough to be certain of these things.

“You’re never this nervous,” he remarked. “Is it a girl?"

"Your questions make me nervous," I muttered.

"It is a girl.” The victory in his voice made it clear that nothing I said was going to change his mind. "Are you going to tell me about her?"

"And hear about your latest hookup with Jeff behind the kitchens in return? I think I'll pass."

He chuckled. "How do you know about Jeff?"

"Please, everyone knows about you and Jeff. If you want it to stay a secret, don't get busy in public places."

"Fair point," Hugo acknowledged. "I'll stop asking you about the girl."

I turned on the spot and noticed a familiar blonde approaching, the sight of the doe shifter sending a small thrill through me. I'd been waiting for this moment all day and now it was finally here.

Hugo stood up and came to join me, craning his neck to try and work out what I was staring at. "You’re being super weird.”

“You’re weird. Go away, I told you I’ve got a client.” I pushed on his chest to try and move him, but he was much bigger and stronger than I was and wouldn't budge at all.

I narrowed my eyes at him, but in true Hugo fashion, he stayed completely still.

"I thought hares were supposed to be small and easily spooked," I muttered.

"And I thought cats were supposed to be cool and collected all the time," he threw back.

I stuck my tongue out at him, only realising that Stella was close enough to make out what was going on when I turned away.

She stood a few feet away with another girl behind her with long dark hair tied back in a sensible ponytail.

“Are you busy?” Stella asked, gesturing vaguely back in the direction they'd come as if to say that they could go and come back again.

“Not at all,” Hugo answered for me, a wide grin gracing his face. “Are you the girl that’s making my sister nervous?”

Heat rose to my cheeks and I glared even harder at my brother. "I said get out, Hugo."

"All right, I'm going. Good to meet you." He smiled at Stella and walked off, probably to go find Jeff again. The two of them were insatiable around one another, which was a problem when I could already sense that it was going to end in tears. Probably Hugo's.

"Sorry about my brother, he doesn't understand the concept of outstaying his welcome," I said. "Why don't you take a seat."

Stella nodded and stepped inside the tent, with the other girl following behind. Even without them interacting, I could tell that they were close. Which meant that this must be Zoe, or I was going to end up with some intense jealousy to deal with.
